Semester 2
Project 1 (Groupwork)
In this project, I have explored architectural design by abstracting and diagramming the principles of space through both 2D and 3D compositions. Our group was assigned to study Holiday Home at Diyathalawa by Damith Premathilake Architects. We were required to produce hand-drawn architectural drawings, analysis diagrams, and models that reflect the design intentions, context, and spatial organization of the structure.

Project 2 (Groupwork)
This project involves designing a Nature Observatory Post within the National Botanical Garden in Shah Alam. This group assignment emphasizes using architectural principles and materiality to create a simple, functional structure that enhances the connection between visitors and nature. The project requires site data collection, detailed drawings, models, and a focus on materiality, with a strong emphasis on experiential qualities. I have deepened my understanding of how architectural principles can be applied in real-world contexts, particularly in creating spaces that harmonize with the natural environment.

Project 3 (Individual)
Project 3 requires me to design a Hideout Retreat at the National Botanical Garden in Shah Alam. It involves creating a retreat that blends harmoniously with the landscape, reflecting architectural principles, materiality, and the surrounding tropical context. The retreat will include spaces such as an observation deck from Project 2, resting areas, working areas, and recreational zones. The design must accommodate four people, including myself, and balance both internal and external design values, showcasing my understanding of user-specific requirements and site analysis.

BUILDING CONSTRUCTION & MATERIALS
Project 1 (Groupwork)
In this assignment, we conducted a detailed case study on Masjid Negara in Kuala Lumpur, focusing on the use of five architectural materials and two structural materials. We explored how these materials contribute to the building's design and their impact on end users. Additionally, we analyzed and illustrated the installation process for one of the materials.
Project 2 (Individual)
This assignment integrates with my Architectural Design II project. It focuses on demonstrating my understanding of construction principles through detailed manual drawings and a physical model. I am required to create a construction section from roof to foundation, develop a detailed physical model, and include a special construction detail.
Project 1 (Individual)
I am required to conduct a physical site visit to one of the assigned traditional streets which I have chosen Jalan Tun H.S Lee, Kuala Lumpur to study its distinctive place contexts. Using various references, I have showcased my observations in a manual sketch journal, focusing on physical contexts such as religious buildings, shophouses, architectural styles, markets, traditional trades, and local cuisines, as well as non-physical contexts like historical events and social institutions.
I have gained a comprehensive understanding of the importance of contextualizing architecture within its social, cultural, and physical environments. By conducting a physical site visit and engaging in detailed observations, I have deepened my appreciation for how religious buildings, shophouses, architectural styles, markets, traditional trades, and local cuisines reflect and influence the community's lifestyle and collective memory. This exercise has honed my skills in manual sketching and visual communication, enabling me to effectively capture and convey the distinctive place contexts of traditional streets.
Project 2 (Groupwork)
This project requires us to conduct critical interpretations of contemporary issues in Asian architecture observed during our site visits. The project involves creating a research poster and video presentation to propose potential solutions to the identified issues. The objectives are to develop critical thinking about globalization's impact on Asian architecture and to understand the historical and contemporary development of vernacular architecture.

I have gained a deeper understanding of the intricate relationship between architecture and its social, cultural, and global contexts. The process of developing a research framework and presenting our findings has improved my ability to communicate ideas effectively through both visual and verbal mediums. This experience has also fostered a greater appreciation for the historical and contemporary dynamics that shape architectural practices in Asia.
